AMAS  POST CONVENTION MEETING

ANCHORAGE, AK   SUNDAY, APRIL 30, 2006

MINUTES

President Amy Samuel, CMA, called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.  The AAMA National Speakers Bureau Representative, Rebecca Walker, CMA, CPC, AAMA Vice-President and member of the North Carolina Society, also attended as a guest.

A quorum of four out of six members was established. 

The creed was recited.

The minutes from the April 28, 2006, meeting were read by Secretary Molly Kretchik, CMA, CCS‑P, and minutes were approved by the membership.

TREASURER’S REPORT      

No treasurer's report was given.  No expenses since last report of April 28, 2006.  Balance on hand April 28, 2006, was $6,798.59.

CORRESPONDENCE

There was no new correspondence                               .

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:  None

NEW BUSINESS: 

Robin Wahto, RN, CMA, moved to elect Amy Samuel, CMA, President, and Molly Kretchik, CMA, CCS-P, Vice President, as delegates to the national AAMA House of Delegates to be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in September 2006.

Motion seconded and adopted.  Robin Wahto, RN, CMA, moved to elect Yolanda Henshaw, CMA, as a alternate delegate to the AAMA House of Delegates 2006.  Motion seconded and adopted.

The 2007 Alaska Medical Assistant Society convention was discussed.  It was determined that it will be Kenai Peninsula Chapter's turn to host the convention in 2007.  Dates were discussed, and the members present, suggested the last weekend of April or the first weekend of May.  Robin Wahto, RN, CMA, said she will contact Debbie Standefer, CMA, to see if the Kenai Peninsula Chapter will be able to host the convention next spring.

Amy Samuel, CMA, announced that she will plan to hold a quarterly teleconference at the end of August.

Convention:                              No chair appointed at this time.  Debbie Standefer, CMA,  will be contacted.

Historian:                                  Linda Donovan will be contacted.

Public Affairs:                           Christa Bartlett, CMA, CPC.

Membership:                            Combined with Strategic Planning.

Marketing:                                Christa Bartlett, CMA, CPC.

Credentials:                              Yolanda Henshaw, CMA, Treasurer.

Strategic Planning:                     Robin Bumgardner, CMA.

Scholarship:                              Molly Kretchik, CMA, CCS-P.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:55 a.m.
